Kim Schwantes was the executive administrator at the Wisconsin PTA state office until she passed away unexpectedly in 2005. Kim was the friendly voice on the phone that helped PTAs around the state with questions, registration and concerns. Although Kim did not have children of her own, she was an ardent supporter of children and PTA. Kim was also an accomplished gardener and loved growing flowers.
Wisconsin PTA has established this "blooming" award in her memory. Now is the time for your Unit or Council to nominate a person who has, over the years, given above and beyond the call of duty to our children and helped children in your school bloom in a special way.
This award is for a non-teaching position (such as secretary, janitor, school aide, etc.) and is presented in the form of a gardening gift certificate.
Pins in honor of Kim are available for $5.00 and proceeds are used to support this award. You can purchase them at Wisconsin PTA events or contact the state office.
****The deadline for this award is January 14th. To print out the application and criteria for this award click here.
