What Does It Mean?

Is your PTA inclusive?  Does your membership and your board reflect the diversity of your school's student body?  Inclusion is derived from the word "include", which is defined as "to have as a part or member; to contain; to put into a group or total."

Our schools are comprised of many different students from different households.  It is important for all PTA's to reflect these differences.  Our state Membership Inclusion Committee is comprised of a cross section of the community:  men, women, single mothers, white and black members, as well as grandparents.

Look at your school community.  Some of the forgotten individuals who should be encouraged to join your PTA are grandparents, single parents, and men.

It is imperative that our children see the entire community working together to inspire, encourage, and motivate our children to succeed and become positive members of society.

Make it a point to have your PTA reflect your school community and all of the different individuals within your unit.

Membership Chair/OMDR Information

Membership Chairs can find the Membership Handbook in our Members Only section.  The handbook has all the information you will need on your duties/responsibilities, starting your membership drives, dues, business memberships, awards and much more.

OMDR  (Online Membership and Dues Reporting)**Membership Chairs can find an easy guide for setting up OMDR, steps for entering members online, printables and templates in the Members Only section.  See your National PTA Membership card or call the State office for access.

There's strength in numbers and that's as true for PTA as for any other organization. A well-organized and well-executed membership campaign can result in a stronger, more diverse, and more involved state or local PTA.  Membership is yearly, our membership year is from July 1st of each year through the following June.
