WEBSITE OVERVIEW
PHOEBE APPERSON-HEARST (NATIONAL PTA EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP AWARD)

Phoebe Apperson Hearst was one of the co-founders of PTA.  In a time when social activism was scorned and women did not have a vote, she knew there is no stronger bond than that between mother and child.  She felt it was up to mothers of this country to eliminate the threats that endangered children.

To celebrate her work, National PTA recognizes a local PTA whose collaborative efforts with parents, families, educators, and community members promote parent/family involvement in ongoing programs that encourage student success.

The Wisconsin PTA chooses an outstanding unit to be the recipient of the Outstanding Unit Award.  This unit is then forwarded to the National level.  This exemplary unit is chosen on the basis of:

  • outstanding programs for school and community
  • membership promotion and increase
  • participation in State and National PTA programs.

The deadline for this award is April 15th.
