Parent Involvement increases student achievement and PTA is a leader in parent/family involvement. Effective parent involvement programs include activities that are addressed by the following six National Standards.
Under each standard, you will find various links that can show you ways & ideas in implementing them.
I. Communicating-Communication between home and school is regular, two-way, and meaningful. In addition, PTA communication with parents is extremely important.
II. Parenting-Parenting skills are promoted and supported. Learn what is going on and how to relate in today's world.
III. Student learning-Parents play an integral role in assisting student learning. You are your child's first and most important teacher!
IV. Volunteering-Parents are welcome in the school, and their support and assistance are sought. The rewards speak for themselves!
V. School decision making and advocacy-Parents are full partners in the decisions that affect children and families. Learn what is happening and speak up!
VI. Collaborating with community-Community resources are used to strengthen schools, families, and student learning. Check out opportunities in your community!
